Title: Vegemite on Toast
Categories: Aussie Breakfast Snack
Yield: 1 Servings

2 Med. thick freshly cut white or wholemeal bread
2tsVEGEMITE spread [This is an Australian yeast-based spread. P
2tbButter [or substitute]

Take a loaf of bread, preferably 1-2 days old, and cut off 2 slices of about 10-15mm thickness [1/2 inch???]. Place these on the toasting fork, and toast both sides over slow to medium red coals. Preferably to the state of a dark golden with tinges of brown/black [depending upon personal preference].

Spread liberally with butter.

Take the jar of Vegemite and spead some over the buttered toast [to your personal coverage/thickness. Then, while it is still hot/warm, and with the delicious aroma of the fresh toast in the air, devour!

NOTE: As a child I used to love this with mock raspberry jam spread on top of the Vegemite.

Ordinary 'sliced' bread may be substituted, as also an electric toaster, but NOTHING replaces the taste of wood-fire toast.

I prefer using a whole-grain bread. The texture of the toasted grains and the Vegemite is almost unpassable! ***A special personal recipe for GLOBAL RECIPE DAY, November 22nd 1997** by Kevin JCJD Symons
